Locking Down Salesforce: Preventing Data Leaks in Public-Facing Sites

Salesforce is a powerful and flexible platform, but misconfigurations can and often do lead to inadvertent exposure of non-public data, including sensitive health data and other personally identifiable information. Recent findings highlight that many organizations are unknowingly leaking sensitive information due to permissive access settings and misapplied security controls.

In this session, Charan Akiri will dissect the most common security vulnerabilities in Salesforce that lead to data leaks, including guest user misconfigurations, excessive API access, and insufficient visibility into sharing rules. We will explore real-world examples that have unintentionally exposed private data and discuss how these issues can be prevented and resolved. Charan will provide actionable best practices to harden Salesforce security, such as enforcing least privilege access, using field-level security effectively, and continuously monitoring for misconfigurations. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of how to secure their Salesforce environments against data exposure risks and ensure their sensitive data remains protected.
