The ” Audit Trail” component that Salesforce has built into it does not give the much needed power to audit a particular release in the context of analyzing the changes that are done in a particular Dev / Integration / UAT sandbox , the metadata members that got added / modified / deleted , the details of the changes done to profiles etc.,
It makes the work more manual to keep track of every metadata member that is getting modified during a release , maintaining a spreadsheet with every change being done and finally doing the deployments manually into the destination as per the spreadsheet . There has been several shouts in success communities and other developer forums about a way to track the metadata configuration history and AutoRABIT has heard it louder than everyone else 🙂 .
AutoRABIT 3.3.3 has unleashed an all new powerful search component that gives you complete metadata history of supported metadata types.
You search the metadata history by metadata type, profiles , permission sets , by author as well as by date as shown below.
The Search results dashboard will show all the details of every single change that has happened to a member or change done in a particualr sandbox or changes made across the sandboxes in a project during a release time.
What more … you can export the history into a CSV file and you have your metadata configuration report , an essential component of the release notes for your release available to you …all automated .
